Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Triton Brass is an exciting musical
collaborative comprising five of the region's most promising young
talents. Prize winners at the 2005 Lyon International Chamber
Music Competition, 2003 Fischoff International Chamber Music
Competition, and semi-finalists at the Concert Artists Guild
Competition, Triton is a tour-de-force in contemporary chamber
music.
The ensemble holds residencies at The Boston Conservatory of Music
& Dance and Boston College, performing & instructing
regularly. During the summer, Triton proudly hosts the Atlantic
Brass Quintet Seminar at MIT and the Boston Conservatory Summer Brass
Intensive. Triton held residence at the Boston University
Tanglewood Institute for six summers, teaching morning instrument
classes and afternoon chamber music seminars for the BUTI Wind Ensemble
program, conducted by H. Robert Reynolds and David J. Martins.
Originating from all corners of the United States, the members of the
Triton Brass have combined their talents into a dynamic and versatile
ensemble. The group proudly boasts that the same five individuals
that performed Triton's first public recital in 2002 (Steve, Andrew,
Shelagh, Wes & Jobey) continue making music together today.
They met as students at the New England Conservatory and The Boston
Conservatory, and are now well-respected New England area freelance
musicians, performing and teaching in a wide variety of settings from
Maine to New York. As they would say, they are "family."
Tritons have performed with the Boston Symphony, the Boston Pops,
Boston Ballet, Boston Philharmonic, Vermont Symphony, New Hampshire
Symphony, Portland Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Albany Symphony
and performed in orchestra pits for Broadway shows. The group has
performed in many prestigious venues including Tanglewood's Ozawa Hall,
the Lyon Opera House, and the grand opening "Tuning of the Hall" for
the Rockport Chamber Music Festival's new Shalin Liu Hall, along with
the Grammy Award-winning Jupiter String Quartet. Triton has held
residencies at numerous universities all over the country performing
recitals, masterclasses, and clinics for the university
ensembles.
The Quintet performs extensively in numerous capacities, including
recitals, educational concerts and residencies, formal affairs, and
collaborative endeavors.
